Audio Previews

DeepGrooves lets you listen to 30-second preview clips for many tracks. Previews come from Deezer's music catalog and help you remember how an album sounds.

Finding Previews

Previews appear in the tracklist section of any album detail view. Look for the play button (▶️) next to each track.

Playing a Track

Click the play button next to any track to start the preview.

Click ▶ Play next to a track
Button changes to ⏹ Stop

Click ⏹ Stop to halt playback

Play All

Want to hear the whole album? Click Play All above the tracklist.

Click Play All
First track plays
When finished, next track starts automatically
Tracks without previews are skipped
Click Stop All to cancel

Preview Availability

Not all tracks have previews. Availability depends on:

Whether the track exists in Deezer's catalog
Rights and licensing for your region
How closely the track title matches

Tracks without previews show no play button or a disabled/grayed button.

How It Works

When you click play:

DeepGrooves searches Deezer for the artist and track title
If found, the 30-second preview URL is retrieved
Audio streams directly from Deezer

This happens in milliseconds—playback starts almost instantly.

Audio Output

Previews play through your system's default audio device. Volume is controlled by your Windows volume settings.

Auto-Stop Behavior

Previews automatically stop when:

You close the album detail flyout
You navigate to a different album
You close the app

This prevents audio from playing unexpectedly in the background.

Multiple Albums

If you start a preview on one album, then navigate to another album and start a preview there, the first preview stops automatically. Only one track plays at a time.

Limitations

Previews are 30 seconds (Deezer's limit)
Not all tracks have previews available
Requires internet connection
Classical and jazz albums may have lower match rates due to title variations

Troubleshooting

No play button — Preview not available for this track in Deezer's catalog.
Playback stops immediately — Check your internet connection.
Wrong audio — Track title may have matched a different song. This is rare.
