Discogs Import

Already have a collection on Discogs? Import it directly into DeepGrooves. All your albums, metadata, and collection notes come across automatically.

Connecting to Discogs

First, connect your Discogs account.

Open Add Media → Import from Discogs
Click Connect to Discogs
Your browser opens the Discogs OAuth page
Sign in to Discogs (if not already)
Click Authorize to grant DeepGrooves access
The browser redirects back to DeepGrooves

Connect to Discogs button and authorization flow

Your connection is saved. You won't need to reconnect unless you disconnect or your token expires.

What Permissions Are Granted?

DeepGrooves requests read-only access to your Discogs collection.

Fetching Your Collection

After connecting:

Click Fetch Collection
DeepGrooves retrieves your albums from Discogs
Progress shows how many items are being fetched
Large collections may take a minute

Your full collection is downloaded, including items in your wantlist.

Selecting Albums

Once fetched, you'll see all your Discogs albums in a grid.

Each shows:

Cover art thumbnail
Title and artist
Format
Checkbox for selection

Selection Options

Button	Action
Select All	Check all albums
Select None	Uncheck all albums
Select New Only	Check only albums not already in DeepGrooves

Select New Only is useful for re-importing—it skips albums you've already added.

Import Options

Before importing, configure:

Skip Duplicates

When enabled (default), albums already in your DeepGrooves collection are automatically skipped.

Wishlist Handling

Albums from your Discogs wantlist are imported with the "Wishlist" flag. Move them to your collection later when acquired.

Running the Import

Click Import Selected to begin.

Progress shows the current album being imported
Each album's metadata and artwork are fetched
Albums are added to your DeepGrooves collection
You can cancel at any time

Import Results

When complete, you'll see a summary.

Count	Meaning
Added	Albums successfully imported
Skipped	Albums that already existed (duplicates)
Failed	Albums that couldn't be imported

Click Retry Failed to attempt failed imports again. Network issues or Discogs rate limits sometimes cause temporary failures.

What Gets Imported

For each album, DeepGrooves imports:

Title and artist
Release year
Label and catalog number
Format (LP, CD, etc.)
Vinyl details (size, speed, color)
Cover art
Tracklist
Discogs community data (rating, have/want)
Your notes from Discogs
Collection vs. wantlist status

What Doesn't Import

You'll add these manually in DeepGrooves:

Conditions (media and sleeve grading)
Purchase info (price paid, date acquired, location)
Folder assignments (DeepGrooves folders are separate from Discogs)

Large Collections

If you have thousands of albums:

Fetching may take several minutes
Import runs in batches automatically
Progress keeps updating
Don't close the window during import

Disconnecting Discogs

To disconnect your Discogs account:

Go to Settings
Find Discogs Connection
Click Disconnect

Your imported albums remain in DeepGrooves. The connection is simply unlinked.

Re-Importing

You can run the import again anytime:

New albums in Discogs will be added
Use "Select New Only" to skip existing
Great for keeping DeepGrooves synced with Discogs

Troubleshooting

Connection failed — Check internet. Complete the authorization flow in browser.
Fetch stalled — Large collections take time. Wait a few minutes.
Import errors — Network issues or rate limits. Click Retry Failed.
Missing albums — Check if they're in a Discogs folder that wasn't included.
