Album Search
Search for albums to add to your collection. DeepGrooves searches multiple databases to find releases.
Starting a Search
From the Add Media window, enter your search in the text field:
- Artist name ("Warren Zevon")
- Album title ("Excitable Boy")
- Both together ("Warren Zevon Excitable Boy")
- Barcode number (auto-detected)
Press Enter or click Search to find matching releases.
Search Results
Results show a card for each matching release.

Understanding Have/Want
- High Have, Low Want — Common pressing, easy to find
- Low Have, High Want — Rare or sought-after pressing
- High both — Popular album with many pressings
Filtering Results
Vinyl-Only Filter
Toggle Vinyl only to hide CDs, cassettes, and digital releases. Useful when you're specifically looking for records.
Client-Side Filter
Type in the secondary filter field to narrow visible results without re-searching. Filters title, artist, and label text.
Master Releases
Some results show multiple pressings under one "master" release.
- Look for View pressings link
- Click to see all available versions
- Each version shows different countries, labels, years, formats, colored vinyl variants
- Select the specific pressing you own
Pagination
Search results paginate automatically. Use Previous and Next to browse through pages. The result count shows how many total matches were found.
Barcode Search
When you enter an 8-14 digit number, DeepGrooves automatically treats it as a barcode search. This finds exact matches for:
- UPC codes (US)
- EAN codes (Europe)
Barcode search is the most accurate way to find a specific pressing.
Adding from Search Results
Found the right album? Add it to your collection.
Add to Collection
Click Add to Collection to add this album as owned. It appears immediately in your collection.
Add to Wishlist
Click Add to Wishlist to track albums you want. They appear in your Wishlist view.
Artist Results
When your search matches artist names, you may see artist cards alongside album results.
Click an artist to:
- View their discography
- Browse all their releases on Discogs
- Add specific albums from their catalog
Duplicate Warning
If the album already exists in your collection, DeepGrooves shows a warning.

Price Suggestions
For vinyl results, DeepGrooves shows suggested market prices when available. This helps you gauge the value of a pressing before adding it.
After Adding
The album is added to your collection with:
- Full metadata from Discogs
- Cover art
- Tracklist
- Community rating data
You can then edit details, set conditions, add notes, and organize into folders.

Context Menu
Right-click any search result for options:
- Add to Collection
- Add to Wishlist
- View on Discogs
- Copy Release ID
- View All Pressings
