Duplicate Detection

Find duplicate albums in your collection and decide what to keep.

Running Detection

1. Open Tools → Find Duplicates from the menu bar
2. Wait while your collection is scanned
3. Review the results

What Counts as Duplicate?

DeepGrooves identifies potential duplicates by:

• Same artist and album title
• Same Discogs release ID
• Similar metadata patterns

Different pressings of the same album appear as duplicates—decide whether to keep both or consolidate.

Viewing Results

Results show duplicate groups.

Comparing Albums

Within a group, compare:

• Cover art (may differ between pressings)
• Catalog numbers
• Condition grades
• Purchase information
• Notes

Resolving Duplicates

Keep One

1. Select the album to keep
2. Click Keep Selected
3. Other copies are removed

Keep All

If they're intentional (different pressings), click Not a Duplicate to dismiss the group.

Merge

1. Select entries to merge
2. Click Merge
3. Choose which data to keep from each

Automatic Detection

Enable automatic duplicate warnings:

1. Go to Settings
2. Enable Warn on duplicate import

You'll be alerted when adding an album that may already exist.

Context Menu

Right-click a duplicate entry for options:

• Keep This One
• View Album
• Compare
• Not a Duplicate

Troubleshooting

False positives

• Different pressings are valid — A US and UK pressing aren't duplicates
• Check catalog numbers — Same album, different number = different release

Before deleting

• Review details carefully
• Merge notes from both entries when consolidating
