Settings

Settings is where you manage your account, subscription, connected services, display preferences, privacy choices, and app behavior. Most settings change how DeepGrooves feels to use; they should not change the records in your collection unless the setting clearly says it will.

Opening Settings

Open Settings from the app navigation, profile menu, or utility area, depending on your screen size. On mobile, Settings may be inside the main menu.

If you are signed out, protected settings are not available. Sign in first, then return to Settings.

Account

The account area shows the identity DeepGrooves uses for your session. Depending on the current build and account type, you may see:

Control	What It Means
Email or user identity	The account currently signed in.
Sign out	Ends the current browser session.
Account actions	Tools for managing login or account data when available.
Support links	Places to get help with account problems.

Signing out should not delete collection data. It only removes the active session from the browser.

Subscription And License

Subscription controls show whether the account currently has access to paid web features. You may see plan status, renewal or checkout actions, and links to manage billing.

Use this area when:

the app says your account is not licensed,
checkout needs to be retried,
you want to confirm whether monthly or annual access is active,
you need to return from billing back to the app.

If you believe the subscription is active but DeepGrooves still shows a license problem, refresh the page after checkout completes. If it persists, sign out and sign back in so the session can reload current account status.

Display Preferences

Display settings control how the app presents information. They may include:

Setting	What It Changes
Theme	Light, dark, or system appearance where supported.
Accent color	Highlight color used across controls and active states.
Default collection view	Whether Collection opens in grid, list, folders, or another supported view.
Items per page	How many records appear before pagination.
Album artwork size	How large cards or thumbnails appear where supported.
Language	Which localized text the app uses.

Changing display preferences should not alter album metadata. If something looks wrong after a display change, refresh the page before assuming data changed.

Appearance settings with theme and color options

Simple Mode

Simple Mode reduces advanced collector detail so everyday screens feel quieter. It is helpful for new users and for people who mainly want a clean inventory.

Simple Mode should not delete data. It changes visibility, not ownership.

restarting a tour or checklist.

Discogs Connection

The Discogs connection lets DeepGrooves fetch collection, wantlist, release, and marketplace data through your Discogs account where supported.

You may see:

State	What To Do
Not connected	Connect Discogs before importing your collection or wantlist.
Connected	Confirm the username is the account you expect.
Connection error	Reconnect or try again after a short wait.
Disconnect	Remove the stored Discogs connection from DeepGrooves.

Disconnecting Discogs should not remove records already imported into DeepGrooves. It only stops future Discogs-powered account actions until you reconnect.

Privacy And Telemetry

Privacy controls explain what optional diagnostic or usage information may be sent. Availability depends on the current build and environment.

If telemetry is enabled, it should be used to understand app behavior and reliability, not to publish your private collection. Public sharing is controlled separately through explicit share links.

Support

Settings is also the launch support path for DeepGrooves web. Use the support area when you need help that is not answered by the manual, when billing or account state looks wrong, or when you want to report a bug.

The support area may include:

Option	What It Does
Help Center	Opens the DeepGrooves web manual in a new browser tab.
Email support	Opens an email to `support@deepgrooves.app` for account, billing, or bug details.

When reporting a bug, include the shortest path that reproduces it, the page you were on, what you expected, what happened instead, and whether refreshing changed the result. Screenshots are helpful, especially for layout issues, missing artwork, broken share pages, or confusing copy.

DeepGrooves may add a richer in-app feedback reporter later. For launch, Settings plus email support is the explicit fallback path.

Data Safety Expectations

Most settings are preferences. They should be safe to change without damaging collection data.

Be more careful with settings or actions that clearly mention:

deleting an account,
disconnecting a service,
resetting onboarding,
changing subscription or billing,
clearing cached data,
regenerating public share links.

When in doubt, read the confirmation dialog before continuing.

Resetting Preferences

If a reset-to-defaults option is available, it should restore display and preference settings to their original values. It should not delete your collection, wishlist, folders, vault locations, play history, or share data unless the confirmation explicitly says it will.

Troubleshooting

Settings do not save.
Check for an inline error, make sure you are signed in, and try again after a refresh. If the app is offline, wait until the connection returns.

Discogs says connected, but import does not work.
Reconnect Discogs from Settings, then return to Import. Authorization can expire or point at the wrong Discogs account.

The app language did not change everywhere.
Some text may update after a reload. If untranslated technical text appears, capture it for QA.

I cannot find subscription controls.
They may be on the Subscribe page or in a billing portal link rather than directly embedded in Settings.

I turned on Simple Mode and cannot find something advanced.
Use reveal controls where available, or turn Simple Mode off from Settings.
