Tracklist Comparison

Tracklist Comparison helps you compare the tracklist saved on a record with newer or alternate track data available to DeepGrooves. Use it when a tracklist looks incomplete, has obvious mistakes, or may belong to a different pressing.

When To Use It

Use Tracklist Comparison when:

your saved tracklist seems incomplete,
track titles look wrong,
side or position information looks off,
a release has been updated in the catalog,
you imported or manually added a sparse record,
or you want to compare one pressing's tracklist with another possible source.

Do not treat it as an automatic correction. Tracklists can vary across pressings, countries, reissues, bonus editions, and box sets.

Starting A Comparison

From album detail or edit, use the available tracklist fetch or compare action when it appears.

The comparison flow can:

load a candidate tracklist,
compare it with your saved tracks,
show added, removed, changed, and unchanged rows,
let you choose which changes to apply,
and leave your saved tracklist alone if you cancel.

Understanding The Diff

The comparison uses status labels instead of expecting you to trust color alone.

Status	Meaning	What to check
Added	The candidate tracklist has a track missing from your saved record	Is it a real missing track, bonus track, or wrong pressing?
Removed	Your saved record has a track missing from the candidate tracklist	Did you add it manually, or is the candidate source incomplete?
Changed	The same position exists, but title, duration, side, or position differs	Review the exact before/after values.
Unchanged	The row matches closely enough	Usually no action needed.

Review Before Applying

Before applying changes, compare:

track title,
side or disc,
position,
duration,
hidden or bonus track notes,
country, year, label, and format,
and whether the tracklist belongs to the exact pressing you own.

If you are unsure, choose additions only or cancel. You can always return after checking the record jacket, labels, or runout notes.

Applying Selected Changes

Select only the rows you want to apply.

Action	Use it when
Select All	You trust the candidate tracklist and want every selected update.
Select None	You want to review manually without changing anything yet.
Additions Only	You want to recover missing tracks without removing or rewriting existing data.
Apply Selected Changes	You are ready to update the saved tracklist.

Changes save to the record after you apply them. Canceling or closing the comparison leaves your saved tracklist unchanged.

Good Habits

Use additions-only when the candidate source may be close but not exact.
Be careful with removed tracks; they may be real tracks on your pressing.
Check multi-disc, box set, and bonus-edition releases closely.
If a tracklist is badly mismatched, cancel and verify the album/release identity first.
